The Drama League Announces Naming of Studio Lab and Welcome Center in Tribeca

Tonight The Drama League announced, during the 29th Annual Musical Celebration of Broadway honoring Audra McDonald at the Pierre Hotel, the founding of The Stewart F. Lane and Bonnie Comley Studio Lab and The Joseph and Lauren Pizza Welcome Center, both to be components inside the new Drama League Theater Center. Located in the heart of Tribeca's burgeoning cultural district, The Drama League Theater Center will open its doors at 32 Avenue of the Americas this spring.

From 5 February 2013, joining the previously announced Gavin Lee who will play Jerry Travers in the West End hit musical Top Hat are Broadway actress Kristen Beth Williams as Dale Tremont, Olivier award nominee Alex Gaumond as Alberto Beddini and Clive Hayward as Horace Hardwick. Vivien Parry continues as Madge Hardwick and Stephen Boswell as Horace's valet Bates.

Theatre Museum Founder Helen Marie Guditis Passes Away

Helen Marie Guditis, Founder and President of "The Theatre Museum" , died of cancer, in her sleep. She valiantly fought for 4 years but succumbed to the disease on December 3, 2012. She was with family members, who said that she sang broadway show tunes until her last breath. Stewart F. Lane, chairman of The Theatre Museum called Helen's dedication to theater inspiring and stated, 'Helen will be deeply missed by the theater community.'

The script has been a finalist in several play writing festivals including Baltimore Playwriting Festival, Catholic University, Kendeda Playwriting Festival, and Seven Devils Playwriting Conference. The cast included Ian Biesinger, Rob Pedini, Kathy Curtis, Bonnie Comley, David Mangiamele, and Alyssa Renzi.

Over 180,000 new tickets are released for public sale today (10 September 2012) as Top Hat at the Aldwych Theatre extends its booking period to 28 September 2013. Seventy seven years after its movie release, Matthew White's production arrived in the West End earlier this year having completed a 20 week sell-out UK tour. The Watermill Center held its annual summer benefit on Saturday, July 28th. Despite a downpour of rain, the spectacular event went on as planned with performance art and installations. Watermill International Summer Program Participants from over 25 countries created eight acres of installations and performances throughout the grounds of Watermill Center. The funds raised will support The Watermill Center's International Summer Program and year round Artist Residency Program, providing a unique environment for young and emerging artists to explore and develop their work.
