The Broadway Education Alliance has announced the 10th annual presentation of The Roger Rees Awards for Excellence in Student Performance, a celebration of high school musical programs, will be held on Monday, June 1 at 7:30 pm on BEA's YouTube channel.

A slew of Broadway favorites have been tapped to perform in a Pride special on June 30 (11am). Presented by ABC News Live, The Broadway League, and Disney Theatrical Productions, 'PRIDE on ABC News Live' will be filmed in part from The New Amsterdam Theatre, current home of Aladdin.
A private, invitation only industry reading of the new musical Mandela will be held on Thursday, March 14 and Friday, March 15, 2019. Mandela has music and lyrics by two South African composer/lyricists signed to Sony/ATV Music Publishing, Greg Dean Borowsky and Shaun Borowsky, with a book by Laiona Michelle (Little Girl Blue: The Nina Simone Musical). This reading is directed by Schele Williams (Rent, Motown: The Musical), with music direction by Alvin Hough, Jr. (Once On This Island). Fifth Estate Entertainment (Nathan Gehan/Jamison Scott) serves as general manager for the reading. The reading will be attended by Nandi Mandela, Nelson Mandela's granddaughter, on behalf of the Mandela family who have officially partnered with the show.

Vanguard Theater Company announced today an all-star team of instructors for The Lion King Experience, including workshops in African Drumming, Dance and Mask-Making. Beginning rehearsal on September 30 at the Montclair Cooperative School, Vanguard's workshop seeks to bring its mission of D.R.E.A.M., Diversity, Reciprocity, Education, Awareness and Mentorship, to young students grades 2 - 6, culminating in two performances in January 2019.

Just last night, the American Theatre Wing honored legendary Tony Award-winning actress Cicely Tyson at its annual gala at The Plaza Hotel (Fifth Avenue at Central Park South). Tony Award winners Cynthia Erivo and Adriane Lenox, as well as Tony Award nominees Danielle Brooks and Saycon Sengbloh performed for the special night.
