Dispute Between Disney & Sony Ends SPIDER-MAN at Marvel Studios

Deadline reports that a months-long standoff between representatives from Disney and Sony has ended with Kevin Feige and Marvel being removed from involvement in any future 'Spider-Man' films. Current Spider-Man Tom Holland and director Jon Watts still have two movies left in their contracts--those will proceed without Feige's involvement.

Save the Children, the international humanitarian organization, today announced that Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Camila Cabello will be honored at “The Centennial Gala: Changing The World for Children” in New York City, while Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company's Robert A. Iger will be honored at the “Centennial Celebration: Once in a Lifetime” in Los Angeles. Both events are a culmination of the organization's 100th year anniversary and will celebrate Save the Children's mission to do whatever it takes for the most vulnerable children in the United States and around the world.

Disney Announces the Name of Its New Streaming Service

The Walt Disney Company's new direct-to-consumer streaming service will be called Disney+. Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger revealed the service's name today during a live audio webcast of Disney's fiscal full year and fourth quarter 2018 financial results. Disney+ is scheduled to launch in the U.S. in late 2019.

In celebration of the 10th anniversary of Marvel Studios, Marvel Studios: Hero Acts is donating $1.25 million to provide transformative experiences to strengthen the lives of children impacted by serious illness. The grant will provide $800,000 to Make-A-Wish® to grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses around the world, and $450,000 to Starlight Children's Foundation to help bring joy and comfort to children in hospitals.

ESPN President John Skipper announced today that he is resigning from his position, citing a substance addiction problem. Former ESPN President and Executive Chairman George Bodenheimer (who worked at ESPN from 1981-2014) will serve as Acting Chair of the company for the next 90 days, overseeing the transition process.
