Fresh off of a three-week residency at Café Carlyle in New York City, fashion designer and a?oeProject Runway: All Starsa?? judge Isaac Mizrahi will appear in Palo Alto at the Oshman Family JCC. The West Coast premiere of his newest cabaret show, Movie Stars and Supermodels, will feature the media icon dishing on model fittings, intimate dinners, and exclusive parties with Hollywood's elite, all while sharing his hilarious musings on everything of the momenta?"from politics to his latest Instagram obsessions. Accompanied by a band of talented jazz musicians led by acclaimed pianist Ben Waltzer, Mizrahi will also perform a wide range of tunes by everyone from Cole Porter to Jule Styne, Stephen Sondheim, and even John Denver. Following his venture into singing, the designer-turned-cabaret artist has been called a?oea founding father of a genre that fuses performance art, music, and stand-up comedya?? by The New York Times. Trumpeter and crooner Benny Benack III returned to the Birdland stage on Monday, July 15, with his inimitable brand of energetic, swingin' songs and irrepressible charisma. Benny presented music from his upcoming sophomore album titled 'A Lot of Livin' to Do.” Commemorating the release of one of the album's singles, he performed a duet of Gigi Gryce's 'Social Call,” which he performed on the recording with Veronica Swift, and in the concert with Aleta Moses. Benny was joined by Takeshi Ohbayashi on piano, Joe Peri on drums, Philip Norris on bass, with special guest vocalists Aleta Moses and Anais Reno, and Alex Claffy guesting on bass.

Jazz pianist Matt Baker returns to the Birdland stage (315 West 44th Street NYC 10036) with the world premier of a BRAND NEW project: A Rhapsody of Gershwin on Monday, March 18th at 7:00 pm. This show presents a whole new spin on the music one of America's most celebrated composers, with an all-star lineup from the heart of New York's jazz scene. Joining Matt Baker - Piano; are Endea Owens - double bass; Curtis Nowosad - drums; Alex Goodman - guitar; and special guests: Benny Benack III - trumpet & voice; and Grammy nominated vocalist Nicole Zuraitis. This is Gershwin, like you've never heard it. Comprising music from Crazy for You, Porgy and Bess and An American in Paris, plus other exciting gems from the classical and popular worlds of George Gershwin, including the haunting Concerto in F! The cover for the show is only $30 with a $10 food / drink minimum. The doors will open at 5:00 pm.

Birdland Jazz Club officially opened the Birdland Theater last night, September 20, 2018. The new convertible 100-seat venue occupies the lower level of the existing Birdland Jazz Club at 315 West 44th Street.
