Muskegon Civic Theatre to Present MAMMA MIA!

The familiar songs of the pop music group ABBA will fill the downtown Frauenthal Theater when Muskegon Civic Theatre stages 'Mamma Mia!' MCT originally planned to produce the popular jukebox musical in 2020, but that show was shelved two weeks into rehearsal by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The film stars the members of ABBA, Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus, and Agnetha Fältskog, and was captured by diector Lasse Hallström (“What’s Eating Gilbert Grape,” “Chocolat,” “Dear John”) during the group’s 1977 Australian tour. The film features hits including 'Dancing Queen,' 'Tiger,' 'Name Of The Game,' and 'Eagle.”

Long Island's largest year-round professional theatrical venue, The Argyle Theatre, will present the Broadway hit Mamma Mia! written by Catherine Johnson with music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus and directed and choreographed by Antoinette DiPietropolo with musical direction by Jonathan Brenner. Mamma Mia! begins performances on March 17 in advance of its opening night on March 19 running through May 1, 2022. The Argyle Theatre (34 West Main Street, Babylon, Long Island).
