Full casting is today announced for the new UK Tour of the sensational feel-good musical      MAMMA MIA! commencing on 18 January 2022 at Plymouth Theatre Royal.

MAMMA MIA! at London’s Novello Theatre is now extending its booking period to Saturday 1 October 2022.  MAMMA MIA! is now in its 23rd year in London.  

ABBA’s first album release in forty years tops album charts in 18 countries. Worldwide sales in excess of 1 million copies in its first week & more than 190 million combined streams to date. Multi-award-winning UK classical singer and stage star Russell Watson will take on the role of 'Billy Flynn' in the acclaimed UK and Ireland tour of the international musical sensation CHICAGO. Russell joins the previously announced Faye Brookes as 'Roxie Hart' and Djalenga Scott as 'Velma Kelly', opening at Liverpool Empire on Monday 7 February 2022.

In October 2001, Mamma Mia! opened on Broadway, just weeks after the horrific events of 9/11, and most pundits had little inkling that the show – a jukebox musical comprised of ABBA hits and the story of a young girl trying to divine the identity of her father from among three of her mother’s suitors some 21 years earlier – would go on to become the ninth longest running musical in the history of the New York theatrical enclave. But Mamma Mia! was exactly what the theater-going public needed in the aftermath of an epoch-shattering and historic event: an enormously entertaining, fast-paced show set to an eminently hummable, danceable score of songs that could whisk them away to another time and place.

The new album saw the four members of ABBA head back into Benny’s studio over a four-year period to record the ten songs that feature on the album. These include ‘I Still Have Faith In You’, and ‘Don’t Shut Me Down’, which will both feature in the ABBA Voyage concert alongside a set-list of the band’s greatest hits.

On Friday, October 15, I had the pleasure of seeing yet another phenomenal production by Fairfield Center Stage, an innovative theatre company that continues to go that extra mile to bring the audience fresh new experiences with familiar shows that Fairfield Center Stage brings to life in positive ways that the audience has never seen before.  Here we go, again, with MAMMA MIA!, which is written by Catherine Johnson, based on the Swedish group Abba’s songs that were written by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus.  Performed outdoors on the back lawn of the Scandinavian Club, in Fairfield, CT, the venue fits the show perfectly!  With the help of the strong skills of choreographer Kelsey Kaminski, executive producer Eli Newsom and artistic director Christy McIntosh-Newsom bring out the best in this outstanding cast of talented actors and actresses who have tremendous stage chemistry with each other.  The cast members all shine forth with positive energy that radiates outwards through the audience, creating a positive vibe that enhances the audience’s enjoyment of this production, seeing how much the performers are clearly enjoying their roles.
