​​​​​​​The Virginia Theatre Festival, the professional summer theatre at the University of Virginia, will present a love story for the ages with Ken Ludwig's Dear Jack, Dear Louise, opening July 21 at the Helms Theatre.

​​​​​​​Asolo Repertory Theatre's Ground Floor Series will present a staged reading presentation of a new musical, Stellar Atmospheres, composed by Paul Gordon, directed by Céline Rosenthal and performed by Hannah Elless. The reading will have a public presentation on Friday, June 30, at 5:00 p.m. in the Asolo Rep Rehearsal Hall. 

A $400,000 grant from Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation has been awarded to the Hermitage Artist Retreat in support of its efforts and impact as a leading national arts incubator for diverse and original works of music, theater, literature, visual art, dance, and more.

The Hermitage Artist Retreat has announced the continuation of the Sarasota Cross Arts Collaborative, made possible once more with generous support from the Koski Family Foundation. This initiative is designed to give frequent performers and company members from leading Sarasota arts organizations a chance to expand their artistic practice from 'performer' to 'creator.'

Goodspeed Musicals has announced the cast for the world premiere musical comedy Summer Stock, the second production of its 60th anniversary season. Filled with exuberant dance numbers and hits from the American songbook, it is adapted from the MGM/Warner Bros. film Summer Stock and will appear on the Goodspeed stage from July 7 – August 27 in East Haddam, Connecticut.

The Virginia Theatre Festival has announced that its upcoming production of Ken Ludwig's Dear Jack, Dear Louise, the heartwarming two-person play about a World War II courtship conducted entirely by mail, will star Suzannah Herschkowitz and Jordan Sobel. 

Popular Broadway performer Jason Danieley will stage 'Ragtime: The Symphonic Concert with the Boston Pops May 12-13 at Boston's Symphony Hall, and July 8 at Tanglewood in Lenox, MA.

After a national search, Asolo Repertory Theatre's incoming Producing Artistic Director Peter Rothstein along with the Board of Directors has selected Ross Egan as the new managing director. Egan will assume the role on July 1, 2023 following the planned departure of Linda DiGabriele on June 30, 2023. DiGabriele has been at Asolo Rep for 50 years, with 35 of those years in the position of managing director.
