Parity Productions Presents A Workshop of TURNING KRASNIQI: A NON-BINARY PLAY

Parity Productions, the New York based theatre company dedicated to producing new work and filling at least 80% of the creative positions (playwrights, directors, and designers) with women, trans, and gender-expansive artists, will premiere a developmental workshop of 2020 Commission Winner Jonathan Alexandratos’ (they/them) play Turning Krasniqi: A Non-Binary Play at the newly renovated AMT Theater.

Theatre production company Parity Productions, the only New York theatre company that ensures that they fill at least 80% of the creative roles on their own productions—playwrights, directors, and designers—with women, trans, and gender-expansive artists and offers free tools to encourage the rest of the theatre industry to do the same, has awarded two commissions to Kelley Nicole Girod for This Stretch of Montpelier and M Sloth Levine for At Hotel MacGuffin. The ceremony took place on Wednesday, November 10th as a hybrid event over zoom and in person at the Manny Cantor Center.

Playwright Joanna Pickering Inks A Deal With Next Stage Press

Pickering, is a British, actress and writer. She began writing for theatre in 2018, at Primitive Grace Theatre Ensemble, with artistic directors Paul Calderon and David Zayas, also co-founding members of New York LAByrinth Theatre. In 2020, Pickering was accepted as a member of The League of Professional Theatre Women, as well as The International Centre of Female Playwrights.

LETTERS TO SALA tells the true story of Sala Kirschner. During World War II, Sala endured seven Nazi Labor Camps. Along the way, she corresponded with friends and family, and saved every letter. Her letters kept hidden for fifty years. At 67, Sala finally shared the story with her daughter. Her letters are on display at the NY Public Library.
