'Lysistrata', Directed by Alice Camarota, is a bawdy anti-war comedy by the ancient Greek playwright Aristophanes. It is the comic account of one woman's extraordinary mission to end the Peloponnesian War, as Lysistrata convinces the women of Greece to withhold sexual privileges from their husbands as a means of forcing the men to negotiate a peace.

Comedian, author and, most recently, idiot who agreed to be tortured on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!, Shappi Khorsandi is a woman of many parts. But live comedy is where she's in her element, and following her brilliant spring tour and limited 7 night run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August she is delighted to be extending her tour into the autumn with a handful of new dates.

Onassis USA is pleased to announce thatcelebrated artist Kostis Velonis's large-scale sculptural work Life Without Tragedy has now been installed on Governors Island, where it will remain on view, free of charge, today through October 31, 2019. Life Without Tragedy, developed with architect Christian Kotzamanisand initially created for the acclaimed Onassis Festival 2019: Democracy Is Coming (during which it could be seen on Astor Place, April 10-30, free of charge), explores the intersection of democracy and theater-perhaps Greece's two greatest contributions. The work consists of three wood sculptures that mimic an ancient Greek amphitheater, a place that was a social institution and a site for political discourse as well as a venue for art.

Chance Theater, Anaheim's official resident theater company, is pleased to present a staged reading of award-winning playwright John Glore's Creep. "Lysistrata" tells the story of the legendary Athenian, Lysistrata, who calls upon the women of Greece to help put an end to the Peloponnesian War. In order to do so, all women must refuse to have sex with their husbands until they agree to peace in Greece. Inspired by Aristophanes and adapted by Ellen McLaughlin, "Lysistrata" is directed by award-winning actor/director Rufus Bonds Jr., and runs from April 12-May 5, 2019 in the Hallberg Theatre on campus.
