Paul Shaver Named President of the Canadian Musical Reproduction Rights Agency

The Canadian Musical Reproduction Rights Agency Ltd. (CMRRA), a SoundExchange company, announced today that Paul Shaver has been named President. Shaver previously served as Vice President at Nielsen Entertainment Canada, where he was instrumental in the launch of the Music Connect platform in Canada that provides improved data transparency to publishers and the music industry at large.  He also more than doubled the number of monitored radio stations so publishers and rights organizations would have 24/7 airplay monitoring.  Shaver's appointment reflects a focus on refining and expanding the services CMRRA provides the publishing community.

Art enthusiasts gathered last night (May 22) at Montalvo Arts Center for an exclusive members-only unveiling of its 2019-2020 Carriage House Theatre Concert Series line-up. The historic Silicon Valley venue announced a thrilling roster of performers from Meow Meow to The Second City, from Pablo Cruise to Loudon Wainwright III, tributes to The Beatles, Cream, and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, and an appearance by NPR's hit radio show and podcast "Selected Shorts." The season launches in October, offering a stellar line-up of theatre, comedy, magic, Grammy Award nominees/winners performing jazz, bluegrass, pop, rock, classical, new age, folk, Hawaiian music, and more. The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) and CBC are thrilled to announce legendary singer-songwriter Corey Hart as the 2019 inductee into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.  Hart, who has sold over 16 million albums worldwide, will be officially inducted into The Canadian Music Hall of Fame during The 2019 JUNO Awards on Sunday, March 17. Even Jim Caruso who has hosted every famous person on the planet whipped out his cell phone camera for this one.

The Carpenters are getting the royal treatment. Carpenters With The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is set for release worldwide 7 December by UMC. Featuring timeless hits and favourites, the album pairs Carpenters' original vocal and instrumental tracks with new orchestral arrangements from Richard Carpenter, conducting the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) at Abbey Road Studios.
