Urban Stages Founding Artistic Director Frances Hill and producer Peter Napolitano present the World Premiere of Character Man as part of its 30th Anniversary season. Jim Brochu's new musical memoir just opened Off-Broadway at Urban Stages Theatre (259 West 30th Street) Wednesday March 5th. This limited run, in previews now, will continue through March 30th only. Robert Bartley directs, with musical direction by Carl Haan. Character Man will have scenic & video design by Patrick Brennan, lighting design by Meghan Santelli and sound design by Sean Hagerty. The 29th Annual Bistro Awards gala, set to take place tonight, March 4, has announced two new presenters. Stephen Schwartz, the Oscar, Tony, Grammy, and Golden Globe-winning composer/lyricist, who wrote the scores to such musicals as Pippin, Wicked, Godspell, and The Magic Show, will present Ben Vereen, the Tony Award-winning actor-singer-dancer, with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC), dedicated to advancing the art and business of live entertainment, has announced the nominees for the 2014 MAC Awards. Winners in twenty-five categories will be voted by the MAC membership by anonymous ballot and announced at the MAC Awards Gala on March 27th at BB King's Blue Club in Times Square at: 237 W. 42 St between 7th and 8th Avenues. Sometimes Broadway musicals run forever, like Cats or Les Miserables. But sometimes, Broadway musicals run for only a minute, like Merrily We Roll Along, High Fidelity, or Via Galactica. This is their story.

After an initial workshop showcase at the new St. James Theatre in London and recent reading at Ken Davenport Studios in New York, which featured Tony Award nominated actress Anita Gillette, 41N 50W makes a 10 performance UK premiere at Southampton's SeaCity Museum. This new play written by Robert Neal Marshall and produced by Baltimore TheatreWorks is being presented within walking distance from where TITANIC set sail in 1912. Performances run April 10th - 19th at 7:30pm. A special opening night event will celebrate SeaCity museum's 2nd birthday with a portion of the evening's proceeds donated to a maritime charity. The April 14th performance will be followed by a memorial service in remembrance of souls lost on TITANIC. The British Titanic Society will also host an invited performance of the play as part of their 2014 Convention.
