Westport Country Playhouse will open A SHERLOCK CAROL, a holiday mystery that blends characters from Arthur Conan Doyle and Charles Dickens. The production features a cast led by James Taylor Odom and runs for eight performances.

Now that Thanksgiving is behind us, it’s time to dive straight into the Christmas season. What better way to do that than with A Sherlock Carol, back for its third production at the Westport County Playhouse.

Survival of the Thickest centers on Mavis Beaumont (Michelle Buteau). Black, plus-size and newly single, Mavis unexpectedly finds herself having to rebuild her life as a struggling stylist. She's determined to not only survive but thrive with the support of her chosen family, a body positive attitude, and a cute v-neck and lip gloss.

Mark Shanahan comblines a crowd pleasing show with sophistication that will delight people of all ages.

Westport Country Playhouse will present a Script in Hand playreading of “Agatha Christie’s The Murder of Roger Ackroyd” on Monday, June 12, at 7 p.m.  From the novel by Agatha Christie, the cunning tale of murder and deception is a brand new adaptation for the stage by Mark Shanahan, who will also direct. This summer, the Alley Theatre in Houston will stage the play’s world premiere production.

A Sherlock Carol has announced plans to return for the 2022 holiday season.  Written and directed by Mark Shanahan (NPR’s Ghost Light Series), the show is currently playing an eight-week limited holiday engagement at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street), and has two weeks of performances left, with a final performance on Sunday, January 2, 2022.
