Signature Theatre has revealed the cast and creative team for the world premiere musical Private Jones, written and directed by Marshall Pailet (Who’s Your Baghdaddy, or how i started the iraq war and Triassic Parq).

 National Alliance for Musical Theatre has announced additional casting for the 35th Annual FESTIVAL OF NEW MUSICALS, which takes place on Thursday, October 26 and Friday, October 27, 2023, at New World Stages.

Call Fosse at the Minskoff, a 90-minute solo play written and performed by Mimi Quillin, and directed by Tony Award nominee Michael Berresse, will play at Nantucket's White Heron Theatre Company.

Vassar College has announced the lineup for the 37th Powerhouse Theater Season. The annual summer season brings together some of todayʼs most influential theatrical voices and welcomes the next generation of theater artists as members of the renowned Powerhouse Theater Training Program.

Signature Theatre will continue its commitment to new work by presenting the eighth annual SigWorks: Monday Night New Play Readings. Under the leadership of Signature's Director of Artistic Development Anika Chapin, this initiative highlights and supports the work of DMV playwrights and is an opportunity for playwrights, actors, directors, designers, and patrons to explore new plays in a fun and informal environment.

Works by local playwrights Audrey Cefaly, Jennifer Barclay and Nayna Agrawal have been selected for Signature Theatre's 2023 season of SigWorks: Monday Night New Play Readings.

Signature Theatre will present So Many Possibilities: A Season of Sondheim, a season-long tribute to Signature’s signature, Stephen Sondheim, which highlights the organization’s long-time relationship with the legendary composer.

The gala honored musical theater legend Leslie Uggams  with the 2022 Oscar Hammerstein Award for Outstanding Achievement in Musical Theater, which will be presented by Dionne Warwick. Ted Chapin was also honored with The York Theatre Company Founders' Award, presented by his daughters Anika and Zoë Chapin. Signature Theatre is accepting submissions for original and unpublished full-length plays (no musicals) from now through August 15, 2022. Playwrights must currently reside in Virginia, Maryland or DC. Only one submission per playwright.

Signature Theatre has announced its 33rd season today, which highlights the organization’s long-time relationship with the legendary Stephen Sondheim. Signature has produced 31 Sondheim productions in its 32 season history – more than any other theater in North America.

Rhinebeck Writers Retreat will host 16 award-winning musical theatre writers of eight new musicals for eight consecutive weeklong residencies between July 3 and August 28.

This year's Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Grove at Goodspeed Musicals is going virtual! In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 20 established and emerging composers, lyricists and librettists representing 11 new musicals will gather in a unique virtual space April 18 – May 1, 2021.

The series returns Saturday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. CST with a discussion on Road Show with guests Deanna Dunagan, Chris Jones and Michael Mahler.

New York Theatre Barn will host a free live stream of the 29th installment of its virtual New Works Series on Wednesday, November 4th, 2020 at 7PM EDT, featuring excerpts from the new musicals Ramona and Johnny and The Devil's Box. The live 45-minute presentation will also feature a conversation with the writers and creative team.
