On March 13, 2020, days before The Garneau Block was set to open, we turned off the lights on our stages due to COVID-19. The Garneau Block set stood still on the Maclab stage for over 18 months waiting for its debut. With great joy and excitement, we welcome the World Premiere of The Garneau Block back to the Citadel, starting September 18, 2021 on the Maclab Theatre stage.

An aspiring young journalist hides a big secret. Her parents look for a fresh start. Her best friend Jonas is stuck in the rut of late-night improv shows. Down the street, Shirley Wong grapples with allegations about her husband, the mysterious Rajinder remains an enigma to the neighbourhood, and the Perlitz house rests haunted by the events of its former inhabitants. When flyers appear around the Garneau Block inviting the community to come together and save the neighbourhood, out folds a satirical and moving story of everyday Edmontonians trying to do what Edmontonians do best: rebuild.

Making its world debut in the Project: Humanity and Crow's Theatre production, TOWARDS YOUTH brings five different drama classrooms from around the world, transitioning from Toronto to England, Greece, Taiwan, and India. Written by Andrew Kushnir based on his travels with Dr. Kathleen Gallagher to conduct her research on the narratives and cultures within drama classrooms, the play explores how the strains of society trickle into the lives of students.

Andrew Kushnir's latest work, TOWARDS YOUTH: A PLAY ON RADICAL HOPE, made its debut on February 28 at Streetcar Crowsnest's intimate Guloien Theatre. While the final product is a 2-hour examination of drama classrooms from around the world, Kushnir had to facilitate a detailed writing and editing process to bring months of research to the stage.

Khari Wendell McClelland is set to release the Freedom Singer album on February 2, 2018. A true celebration of black history, the album is a collection of rare and forgotten songs that McClelland interprets through the many styles and genres that helped to shape him. Using folk, gospel, country, hip hop and soul to reinvigorate these songs and build a bridge from the 1800's to the present. Produced by John Raham and Khari Wendell McClelland, Freedom Singer will be available through Bandcamp, iTunes, Spotify and through Khari's label COAX Records' online store.
