National YoungArts Foundation Celebrates 2019 U.S. Presidential Scholars In The Arts

The National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) congratulates the 55th class of U.S. Presidential Scholars, with special acknowledgement to the 20 U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts who are YoungArts winners. The U.S. Presidential Scholars award one of the nation's highest honors for high school students who exemplify academic excellence is presented on behalf of the President of the United States and honors up to 161 graduating high school seniors of high potential each year. The U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts (full list below) were nominated by YoungArts to The White House Commission on Presidential Scholars and selected based on academic and artistic excellence, leadership qualities and community service. For students who would like to be considered for this outstanding honor in the future, the YoungArts application opens on June 4, 2019 at youngarts.org/apply.

Climate Change Play CONTINUITY Begins Performances At Manhattan Theatre Club On May 8

Manhattan Theatre Club's world premiere of Continuity, the new play by Lortel and Drama Desk Award nominee Bess Wohl (Small Mouth Sounds, American Hero) and directed by Tony Award nominee Rachel Chavkin (Hadestown; Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812), begins performances tomorrow at The Studio at Stage II - Harold and Mimi Steinberg New Play Series at New York City Center (131 W. 55th Street). Opening night is set for Tuesday, May 21.

Award Winning Ancram Opera House Announces 2019 Season

Ancram Opera House (AOH), the award-winning theatre in southern Columbia County, announced its 2019 summer season which opens June 28 with the world premiere of Staged Dives: An Evening with Stew & Heidi by Stew and Heidi Rodewald, creators of the Tony, Drama Desk and Obie award-winning musical Passing Strange. The lineup continues with Welcome to the Jungle, a TimeOut NY Critic's Pick by cabaret artist, playwright and actor Salty Brine; Obie award-winning The Tricky Part by Martin Moran; and The Brothers Size by Tarell Alvin McCraney (Choir Boy, Moonlight).
