After three extensions, the WP Theater (Lisa McNulty, Producing Artistic Director; Michael Sag, Managing Director) and Second Stage Theater (Carole Rothman, President & Artistic Director) production of Alexis Scheer's OUR DEAR DEAD DRUG LORD, directed by Whitney White, and produced by Benjamin Simpson, Joseph Longthorne and Jana Shea, will play its final performance on Sunday, January 5.

Playwrights Horizons (Artistic Director Tim Sanford, Managing Director Leslie Marcus) will present a return engagement of the The Movement Theatre Company (Producing Artistic Leadership Team David Mendizábal, Deadria Harrington, Eric Lockley, Taylor Reynolds) staging of Aleshea Harris' What to Send Up When It Goes Down, directed by Whitney White. The production runs June 24 - July 19, 2020 (opening June 30, 2020) at Playwrights Horizons' Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 West 42 Street). 'It's an honor to include this extraordinary piece in our Redux Series, which expands the audience reach for vital new plays that premiered to limited runs elsewhere,' Playwrights Horizons Associate Artistic Director Adam Greenfield said. 'Aleshea Harris' play is an urgent, visceral, kaleidoscopic reckoning with racialized police violence in America-and a theatrical experience that demands our attention.'

WP Theater, under the leadership of Producing Artistic Director Lisa McNulty and Managing Director Michael Sag, has announced that the world premiere of playwright and performer Donnetta Lavinia Grays' Where We Stand, co-presented by WP Theater and Baltimore Center Stage, will star Grays [Men on Boats, In The Next Room (or The Vibrator Play)], who will alternate select performances with David Ryan Smith (One Man, Two Guvnors; Passing Strange) beginning February 15. Directed by Tamilla Woodard (Hadestown Broadway associate director), previews begin Off-Broadway on Friday, January 31 at WP Theater with an opening night of February 11, 2020. The limited engagement at WP Theater will run through March 1, 2020 before playing Baltimore Center Stage April 2-26.

Due to extremely strong ticket demand, the acclaimed production of Alexis Scheer's OUR DEAR DEAD DRUG LORD, directed by Whitney White, has been extended one week and will now run through Sunday, October 27.

An industry reading of WINGS will be held on Thursday, May 9th at 3 PM and Friday, May 10th at 11 AM in New York City. WINGS is a new musical with Book, Music, and Lyrics by Danny K Bernstein.

Second Stage Theater has announced five initial productions for its upcoming 2019-2020 Season, including two world premieres and three productions at its Broadway home, The Hayes Theater.

Continuing with its mission to support Latinx playwrights, the 50 Playwrights Project (50PP) has released its third annual list of recommended unproduced Latinx plays. Dubbed The 50PP List, it is comprised of eight production-ready plays by Latinx playwrights.

Boston Playwrights' Theatre (BPT) continues its 2018-19 season with Laughs in Spanish by Alexis Scheer. Running from February 21-March 3, this fast-paced new comedy is directed by Sara Katzoff.
