LezFest, the popular and ever-evolving interdisciplinary program of performance by queer female and non-binary artists, will return for its eighth session on Sunday, December 16. Previously known as SheFest and WeFest, this twice-annual event will include performances by 12 artists in The Broadway theater of the Pride Arts Center, 4139 N. Broadway.

Scott Alan premieres his new musical The Distance You Have Come in the intimate The Cockpit. Presented as a cycle of songs and with little-to-no dialogue, it sees a group of six people dealing with various degrees of desperation and challenges. A struggling actress (Emma Hutton), a broken lesbian couple (Alexia Khedime and Jodie Jacobs), an alcoholic (Dean John-Wilson) all grapple with the lingering uncertainty of life while the audience gets to see Andy Coxton and Adrian Hansel meet and fall in love.

To help celebrate BC performers' remarkable achievements, the 7th annual UBCP/ACTRA Awards Gala will honour five of its members on December 8th, 2018 for work done this past year. The Distance You Have Come follows the lives of six individuals who juggle the constant challenges of life, depression, heartache and love. Told through the music and lyrics of award-winning composer Scott Alan, this brand-new musical brings together a song cycle of his most acclaimed works for the first time, performed by some of the greatest generational voices in the West End.

Scott Alan is a much-loved songwriter and performer in the theatre industry. A selection of his songs have been brought together into a song cycle, The Distance You Have Come, which will premiere at The Cockpit on 16-28 October. 

Aretha Franklin, The Queen of Soul, who passed away on August 16th, will be celebrated in story and song at Feinstein's/54 Below on Sunday, October 7th, at 9:30pm, in a concert directed and produced by Robert W. Schneider.
