AMC announced today that it has greenlit National Anthem, an 8-episode anthology series created by writer/director Scott Z. Burns (The Report, Contagion) and executive produced by Oscar® and Emmy® Award-winner Mark Johnson (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Rectify, Rain Man, The Natural, Bugsy).  The musical dramedy is the first series greenlit under Johnson's multi-year overall deal with AMC Studios, through which he will continue to develop new series for the company's Entertainment Group as well as projects for potential sale to other content companies. National Anthem is the tragically funny story of a middle class midwestern family tumbling down the ladder of American society; periodically bursting into song as they struggle to catch themselves.  Award-winning musician T Bone Burnett (Crazy Heart, The Hunger Games) is attached as the series' music producer with words and music by Craig Finn (The Hold Steady).

Sparks – brothers Ron and Russell Mael - have announced the May 15 release of their 24th studio album, A Steady Drip, Drip, Drip, and a European run of tour dates in October. In the announcement video, the band also confirm the release (without providing any dates) of the Sparks-written musical feature film Annette, starring Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard and directed by Leos Carax (Holy Motors), and the currently-untitled Sparks documentary directed by Edgar Wright (Baby Driver, Spaced).

Saturday Night Live returned for its first episode of 2020 last night. The episode was hosted by Adam Driver and the musical guest was Halsey. The show of course kicked off with a politically-themed cold open. In this sketch, Donald Trump's attorney Alan Dershowitz (Jon Lovitz) gives Senator Mitch McConnell (Beck Bennett) and Senator Susan Collins (Cecily Strong) a preview of his impeachment defense. Driver also plays Jeffrey Epstein in the sketch.

Disney Music has shared a video from the most recent Star Wars film, The Rise of Skywalker, which features a song that Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote for the film. The clip shows the the Aki Aki's of the planet Pasaana singing Miranda's song a?oeLido Heya?? for the celebration scene in the film.

Adam Driver will return to Studio 8H to host 'Saturday Night Live' for the third time on Jan. 25. Driver is currently nominated for an Academy Award for his performance in 'Marriage Story.'

The Los Angeles Film Critics Association gave out their awards this past Saturday, January 11. The association announce the winners back in December.
