MGM has acquired Cyrano, a musical film adaptation. According to Deadline, Peter Dinklage will reprise title role that he played onstage at the Terris Theatre in 2018 and at the Daryl Roth Theatre in 2019. 

Aaron Dessner is a New York-based musician, composer and producer, best known for his work in  Grammy®-award winning alternative band The National, whose albums he has co-produced and co-written since the group’s inception in 1999.

Out February 7 and produced by The National's Aaron Dessner, HALF MOON LIGHT is the band's fourth studio LP and first one since 2017. Billboard premiered the 'rhythmic, joyous' song with a Zach Williams Q&A yesterday. The New Group announces full casting for Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice, with Jennifer Damiano, Ana Nogueira, Joél Pérez and Michael Zegen joining, as previously announced, Duncan Sheik, in this world premiere production. Arriving as part of The New Group's 25th Anniversary Season, this production features Book by Jonathan Marc Sherman, Music and Lyrics by Duncan Sheik, Additional Lyrics by Amanda Green and Choreography by Kelly Devine. Scott Elliott directs. Previews begin January 16 in advance of an Official Opening Night on Tuesday, February 4.

The Lone Bellow – Zach Williams, Kanene Donehey Pipkin, Brian Elmquist – have released 'Wonder,' the new song from their long-awaited soon-to-be-released album, HALF MOON LIGHT (Dualtone Records, an Entertainment One Company), the band's fourth studio LP and first one since 2017. Pulsing with the trio's signature harmonies, “Wonder” underpins the entire album with a loving call to reclaim the childlike awe and appreciation age takes away. It is the record's core message and transcendent truth. The song premiered yesterday via Relix, who called it 'moving, wistful.'

The cleverest part of adaptor/director Erica Schmidt's new musical based on Edmond Rostand's classic CYRANO DE BERGERAC is that the two times a character makes mention of the title fellow's very large nose, there is a pause before the word, making it clear that the speaker was about to say something else, but thought better of it.

On Monday, November 4, Ann Harada, Crystal Lucas-Perry, John Cameron Mitchell, Taylor Schilling, Wallace Shawn and Fred Weller will appear in a one-night-only reading of Maxwell Anderson's Bad Seed, to benefit The New Group, as the company celebrates its 25th Anniversary Season.  Cynthia Nixon directs.  This benefit reading supports New Group/New Works, The New Group's play and musical development program.

Out on Friday, February 7, 2020, HALF MOON LIGHT, produced by Aaron Dessner (The National) at his studio in upstate New York and featuring guitarist Josh Kaufman and drummer J.T. Baites, finds The Lone Bellow more vital than ever as the mighty combo push their acoustic storytelling prowess past new horizons, experimenting with textures and instrumentation to create their most sophisticated work to date. With HALF MOON LIGHT, The Lone Bellow have returned unified and invigorated with boundless ambition. To celebrate the announcement today, the band are sharing their indelible first single, “Count On Me,” a song that reminds us with soul-shouting intensity that it's safe and important to lean on one another for survival. HALF MOON LIGHT is available for pre-order now.

Due to popular demand, The New Group has announced an extension for Cyrano, with Ritchie Coster, Josh A. Dawson, Peter Dinklage, Hillary Fisher, Josh Franklin, Christopher Gurr, Blake Jenner, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Nehal Joshi, Grace McLean, Erika Olson and Scott Stangland.

Works & Process, the performing arts series at the Guggenheim, presents The New Group: Cyrano Adapted & Directed by Erica Schmidt, with Peter Dinklage, Blake Jenner, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Aaron Dessner and Bryce Dessner of The National on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 7:30pm. Music Director Ted Author will accompany the performances on piano.
