Based on the real events of Ahmaud “Maud” Arbery's tragic murder in Georgia that was deemed a 'modern day lynching' by his family lawyers, Maud follows the subsequent trial of the three white defendants which led to Georgia passing its first ever hate-crimes law. 

 Kiln Theatre presents the world première of Zodwa Nyoni’s The Darkest Part of the Night. Nancy Medina directs Brianna Douglas, Andrew French, James Clyde, Hannah Morrish, Lee Phillips and Nadia Williams. Today, ahead of Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre's opening night for the new season, production images are released for Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet. Kimberley Sykes directs Shakespeare’s timeless story of two young people torn apart by a divided society and forbidden love.

Regent's Park Open Air Theatre have today confirmed full casting for Romeo and Juliet, which opens the 2021 season on Thursday 17 June.

A filmed adaptation of The Winter’s Tale will be broadcast on BBC Four on Sunday 25 April 2021 at 7pm, celebrating Shakespeare’s birthday weekend and marking the first time in RSC history that a production will have a televised World Premiere.

With the one-year anniversary of theatres being forced to close in sight, the Royal Shakespeare Company has announced that audiences will now get the chance to see The Winter’s Tale and The Comedy of Errors, two of its postponed 2020 major Shakespeare productions.

The Royal Shakespeare Company's (RSC) 2018 production of Romeo and Juliet will be broadcast on BBC Two at 2pm on Tuesday 9 February as part of the BBC's Lockdown Learning's Shakespeare Week.  The production will then be available on BBC iPlayer for 60 days.

The Royal Shakespeare Company today released Sonnets in Solitude, a selection of Shakespeare's sonnets self-recorded by RSC actors while in lockdown. Many of the actors were working with the RSC at the time of the theatre's temporary closure on 17 March and have been unable to perform or rehearse since.

Joining the previously announced Miles Jupp, who will make his RSC debut as Antipholus of Syracuse, is Jonathan Broadbent (Dromio of Syracuse), Justin Edwards (Antipholus of Ephesus), Greg Haiste (Dromio of Ephesus), Georgia Landers (Luciana) and Annette McLaughlin (Adrianna). Directed by Phillip Breen, the production will be cross-cast with The Winter's Tale (from 28 March 2020) and Pericles (from 15 August 2020). All three plays are sponsored by Darwin Escapes.

It's Pittsburg, 1969, and the city's Hill District is far from the vibrant, bustling, jazz-soaked African-American neighbourhood it was in its prime. August Wilson's Two Trains Running brings a shabby diner in this threatened community to life, offering a window onto the lives of seven irregular regular customers and, ultimately, the state of America in the sixties.

Being cast in an August Wilson play feels like an honour; I studied his work at drama school. He is described as the black Shakespeare. His words and characters are so full of life - half my job feels done already. How he expresses the black experience feels so relatable even to this day.
