The Royal Opera House's 2003 production gets a much-needed injection of Japanese authenticity while retaining, even enhancing, its moral of how men can abuse their power, as husbands and as colonial occupiers.

BWW Review: LA TRAVIATA, Royal Opera House

Richard Eyre's production gets yet another run out 25 years on, but it's so beautiful and brilliantly sung, no further justification is required.
Miller Theatre's Early Music Series will Continue with England's Tallis Scholars

For twenty years, the venerable Tallis Scholars have made a much-anticipated annual appearance in New York City to perform on Miller Theatre's Early Music series. This year's program explores the ways in which composers from different eras and backgrounds reacted to the same seminal texts; it includes multiple settings of Ave Maria, Salve Regina, Magnificat, and O sacrum convivium, alongside Allegri's exquisite Miserere.
LYSISTRATA, Aristophanes' Comedy on the Eternal Battle of the Sexes

For a two-week special event, The City Theatre Company presents the comedic satire Lysistrata. With wars raging, the distressed women of Athens take matters into their own hands, refusing to make love until there is peace. Arthur Alexander to Release Solo Debut Album ONE BAR LEFT May 4

When the scourge of rock 'n' roll crossed the Atlantic and invaded Europe in the late 1950s, most people thought it was just another passing fad from America.  But no one imagined in their wildest dreams that this “fad” would also be the force that would deal the fatal blow to communism and tear the Eastern Europe's Iron Curtain to shreds. No amount of Soviet tanks and bayonets was a match for this tsunami. But a young kid growing up in Warsaw, Poland, did know.  He heard that sound and knew instantly this was BIG; this was no fad, this was the sound of rebellion. Hearing Bob Dylan's words, '... But even the President of the United States sometimes must have to stand naked,' he knew it was time to kick ass - with electric guitar. Lucky for him, the communist authorities didn't take kindly to his ideas and, in no time at all, kicked his ass - straight out of the country.
