Christian Camargo is an American actor, director, and producer known for his work on stage, television, and film. Born in New York City in 1971, Camargo grew up in a creative family. His mother is a painter, and his father is a playwright and theater director.
Camargo attended Hobart College in upstate New York, where he studied English and theater. After graduation, he moved to London to study at the Drama Centre London. He then returned to the United States and began his career in theater.
Camargo made his Broadway debut in 1999 in the play "Kit Marlowe" alongside Brian Cox. He then went on to appear in several other Broadway productions, including "All My Sons" in 2008, "The Seagull" in 2008, and "Hamlet" in 2009, where he played the title role opposite Jude Law.
In addition to his work on stage, Camargo has also had a successful career in television and film. He is perhaps best known for his role as Brian Moser, also known as the Ice Truck Killer, in the first season of the hit Showtime series "Dexter." In 2013, he directed the film "Days and Nights," which starred Allison Janney, Jean Reno, and Katie Holmes. The film was loosely based on Anton Chekhov's play "The Seagull," which Camargo had previously appeared in on Broadway.
Most recently, Camargo has appeared in the Netflix series "The Umbrella Academy" as Dr. Elliot Handler. He also had a recurring role on the Showtime series "Penny Dreadful: City of Angels" in 2020.
