Usman Ally Biography
Usman Ally was born in Swaziland and grew up in Botswana, Kenya, Tanzania and Pakistan. After spending the first 18 years of his life in Africa, he moved to the United States to attend college at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR. He majored in Theatre and Cultural Anthropology and received his BA in 2004. During his time in Portland, Usman also began his SLAM Poetry career, performing with the Hip Hop group, Prisoners of Politics.Usman then received his MFA in Acting (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Florida in 2007. In Florida he founded the University's first ever Hip Hop Theatre troupe, One Nation and served as director, writer and actor.
Usman currently spends his time between Chicago, NYC and LA
Usman is a recipient of the FOX FOUNDATION/TCG GRANT 2010
Usman is best known for originating the role of VP in the World Premiere performance of the award winning THE ELABORATE ENTRANCE OF CHAD DEITY at VICTORY GARDENS, which he reprised for its New York and LA Premieres at SECOND STAGE and GEFFEN PLAYHOUSE respectively.
He also originated the role of Amir in the critically acclaimed DISGRACED at American Theater Company.

Derek Theler, Beth Riesgraf, Usman Ally, Lamont Thompson, Artur Benson and Aaron Glenane join the cast of Paramount Network's new scripted comedic drama series 68 Whiskey from Imagine Television Studios and CBS Television Studios. They join previously announced cast members Sam Keeley, Gage Golightly, Cristina Rodlo, Jeremy Tardy and Nicholas Coombe. Production on the first season of 68 Whiskey is underway with the series scheduled to premiere on Paramount Network in early 2020.

SHOWTIME has picked up ON BECOMING A GOD IN CENTRAL FLORIDA, a one-hour series set to debut Sunday, August 25 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Starring Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Kirsten Dunst (Fargo), the nine-episode series is a darkly comedic story about the cult of free enterprise and one woman's relentless pursuit of the American Dream. In addition to Dunst, the series stars Théodore Pellerin (Genesis), Beth Ditto (Nocturnal Animals), Mel Rodriguez (The Last Man on Earth) and Ted Levine (The Silence of the Lambs). Created and executive produced by Robert Funke and Matt Lutsky and produced by Sony's TriStar Television, the series is also executive produced by Smokehouse Pictures' George Clooney (Catch-22) and Grant Heslov (Catch-22), along with Dunst, Charlie McDowell (The One I Love), who also directed the pilot and Esta Spalding (MASTERS OF SEX), who also serves as showrunner. The announcement was made today by Gary Levine and Jana Winograde, Presidents of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc.

Lookingglass Theatre Company opened its 25th Anniversary Season with Metamorphoses, based on the Myths of Ovid, written and directed by Lookingglass Ensemble Member Mary Zimmerman. The return of Lookingglass' seminal production, coinciding with the 10th Anniversary of the Broadway run, will open at Lookingglass in the fall of 2012 and will then move to Washington D.C.'s Arena Stage.
