Harlem Stage has announced full programming for Spring 2023, continuing its Black Arts Movement: Examined series examining the 1960s/70s cultural movement led by Black artists, activists, and intellectuals.

CHICKEN & BISCUITS, the new comedy written by Douglas Lyons and directed by Zhailon Levingston, makes its Broadway premiere and we have all of the reviews from Broadway's critics. The limited engagement runs through Sunday, January 2, 2022. 

MultiStages will present 'SPEAKOUT: Protest Plays & More,' a virtual festival of multidisciplinary commissioned works, live on June 21 and recorded from June 22 to 25. Conceived and directed by Artistic Director/activist Lorca Peress, the program is a 90 minute turntable of short plays, dance works and poetry exploring the essence of protest and activism in the modern period since the killing of George Floyd.

Casting is confirmed for the Signature Theatre (Paige Evans, Artistic Director; Harold Wolpert, Executive Director) world premiere of The Hot Wing King by Katori Hall, directed by Steve H. Broadnax III. The production will play from February 11 to March 22, 2020 with opening night set for March 1 in The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues).

The second company completing its residency this spring is Our Voices Theater, presenting the world premiere of Obie Award winner Charles Mee's SOOT AND SPIT, directed by Kim Weild, running now through June 17, 2017. The Invisible Dog will present MINOR CHARACTER, (June 17-25) by Brooklyn based theater company New Saloon. In this kaleidoscopic adaptation of Anton Chekhov's Uncle Vanya, a cast of 16 performers collage a century's worth of English translations - from the flowery 1916 version to Google Translate's profoundly nonsensical rendition - into one sprawling, intimate, quietly disastrous evening that culminates with an entirely new adaptation.

On March 13th, The Flea Theater and Project1VOICE are teaming up for a one-night-only event to honor the 40th anniversary of Ntozake Shange's for colored girls who have considered suicide / when the rainbow is enuf.

The Flea Theater presents the New York premiere of Kristiana Colon's but i cd only whisper, directed by Resident Director David Monteagudo and featuring members of The Bats, The Flea's resident acting company. Previews start February 18, with opening night slated for Monday, February 29.
