Actress Regina Taylor Performs with Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Tonight

The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra is thrilled to announce that award-winning actress, playwright and director Regina Taylor will be narrating poems of Dr. Maya Angelou during the world premiere performances of newly-commissioned orchestral works this weekend, Nov. 13-14 at historic Music Hall.

CINCINNATI – The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra is thrilled to announce that award-winning actress, playwright and director Regina Taylor will be narrating poems of Dr. Maya Angelou during the world premiere performances of newly-commissioned orchestral works Nov. 13-14 at historic Music Hall. The works, written by pre-eminent American composers Jonathan Bailey Holland, Kristin Kuster and T.J. Cole, are based on Dr. Angelou's poems “Forgive,” “Elegy” and “Equality,” which Ms. Taylor will narrate as part of the performance of the works. The concerts (11 a.m. Nov. 13 and 8 p.m. Nov. 14) mark the culmination of the CSO's annual One City, One Symphony initiative, designed to bring people together through music. Also on the concert program is Dvo?ák's beloved Symphony No. 9 (“From the New World”) and Beethoven's Leonore Overture No. 2.

Following the startling success of LumenoCity last summer, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra is expanding this groundbreaking free concert experience for the community in Cincinnati's Washington Park on August 1, 2 and 3, 2014, by adding a third performance, and presenting an all-new visual and musical program. The event promises heart-pounding musical performances, stunning animation projected onto the fac?ade of historic Music Hall, and a few surprises. The inaugural LumenoCity in 2013 drew record crowds to Washington Park and took the social media world by storm with over two million impressions on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
