Walder Foundation will award $2.4 million to performing artists through its inaugural Platform Awards, which support accomplished Chicagoland mid-career music, theater, dance, and interdisciplinary performance artists who are enriching the city’s creative and civic landscape through a commitment to honing their craft and meaningful community engagement.

Becca Stevens to Release New Album; Shares Lead Single
2X GRAMMY nominated singer-songwriter and rising star Becca Stevens has confirmed her highly anticipated forthcoming album Maple to Paper, set for release August 30. Ahead of the album, she unveiled the lead single “Now Feels Bigger Than The Past.' Stevens has also joined the cast of Broadway’s ‘Illinoise’, which yesterday won Best Choreography at the 2024 Tony Awards and was nominated for three others. Listen to a single from her album!

ILLINOISE is a journey through our great state of Illinois using movement. Directed and choreographed by Justin Peck and featuring music and lyrics from Sufjan Stevens’s ILLINOIS album, the show uses dance as its primary narrative language. Peck collaborated with playwright Jacke Sibblies Drury on a loose storyline for ILLINOISE, but that story is communicated entirely through dance. Stevens’s lyrics underscore the situations in the show and mirror the emotional shades of the choreography.
