Mahogany L. Browne Appointed First Ever Poet-in-Residence at Lincoln Center

Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts today announced Mahogany L. Browne as its first ever poet-in-residence. The residency, entitled “We Are The Work”, will feature a variety of in-person and virtual events, along with new poetry by Browne, commissioned specifically for the residency.
Poetry Coalition To Offer Programs On The Theme Where My Dreaming And My Loving Live: Poetry & The Body

This March the more than twenty organizations in ten cities nationwide that compose the Poetry Coalition will launch Where My Dreaming and My Loving Live: Poetry & the Body, the coalition's second annual programming initiative. For this collaborative effort, each organization will bring its unique mission to the task of presenting programs and projects on the theme of the body. Programs will include a range of events and publications that address issues including mass incarceration, transphobia, violence against people of color, and health and self-care. This programming is made possible in part by a grant from the Ford Foundation secured by the Academy of American Poets.

Award winning actor, writer and musician, Darian Dauchan unveils his Sci Fi Hip Hop transmedia piece Brobot Johnson at the legendary Nuyorican Poet Cafe at 236 E. 3rd St., New York, NY 10009 on Wednesday, September 21st at 7pm. The Brobot Johnson Project exists in three parts as an album, a web series and a theatrical production. The story follows the adventures of Brobot Johnson, an android newly invented by a scientist named Professor Toussaint and his quest to learn the basic fundamentals of how to be a little more human one mundane but miraculous experience at a time.
