H.T. Chen & Dancers will return to La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club with a series of Teahouse Performances celebrating the Lunar New Year of the Horse. The program will be presented January 30 and 31 at 8:00 p.m. and February 1 at 4:00 p.m. at La MaMa’s Downstairs Theatre, located at 66 East 4th Street.

Chen Dance Center, the nation's largest Asian American dance institution, will celebrate the New York State Senate resolution recognizing the first week of October 2019, as 'Chinese American Heritage Week' to strengthen the friendship and bilateral relationship between the State of New York and Chinese Americans... Chinese Americans helped complete the Transcontinental Railroad and 1 in 5 Chinese Americans enlisted to serve in World War II.'

After touring several states, "South of Gold Mountain" held its New York premiere at New York Live Arts. Renowned choreographer HT Chen and Dancers brought to life the untold stories of Chinese immigrants who settled in the South, using elements of Chinese Opera Movement, modern dance, traditional Chinese music, deep south blues, personal narrative, and old family photos. What emerged was a living history unfolding before the audience's eyes.

Yet the original Greek meters provide clues as to how a section of a play was performed (sung, spoken or spoken to musical accompaniment). This has prompted Alexander Harrington, a director known for his mastery of oratorical theater, to attempt something radical: approximating Aeschylus' actual, original poetic meters in a new translation. This intrepid idea has resulted in a script of surprisingly clear stage speech and unusual poetic quality. It will debut November 12 to 29, 2009 in La MaMa's large Annex Theater, performed by The Eleventh Hour Theatre Company.
