Riz Ahmed Joins Michael Cera in Wes Anderson's Upcoming Film


Riz Ahmed has been cast in his latest film. According to reports, the Sound of Metal actor will be appearing in the next feature from Wes Anderson. Currently in production in Berlin, this will mark the first time Ahmed will be part of an Anderson project. His previous films include Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Venom, and the 2023 animated Nimona.

Amazon Studios today announced the first group of series regulars set to star in the new Amazon Original series based on stories from the iconic 'The Lord of the Rings' novels by J.R.R. Tolkien. Newly revealed cast members including Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, Tom Budge, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, and Daniel Weyman. Production will begin in February.

Armando Iannucci's THE PERSONAL HISTORY OF DAVID COPPERFIELD to Open 63rd BFI London Film Festival


The 63rd BFI London Film Festival in partnership with American Express is thrilled to announce that this year's Opening Night gala will be The Personal History of David Copperfield, directed by the multi-award-winning writer, filmmaker and broadcaster Armando Iannucci and starring BAFTA Award winner Dev Patel as David Copperfield. The film will receive its European Premiere on Wednesday 2 October at Odeon Luxe, Leicester Square. This fresh take on Charles Dickens' classic novel, boasts a stellar British cast, led by Dev Patel, Tilda Swinton, Hugh Laurie, Peter Capaldi, Ben Whishaw, Paul Whitehouse and Gwendoline Christie; many of whom are expected on the red carpet in Leicester Square.  

THE COLOURS Comes to Soho Theatre This Summer


Following critically-acclaimed runs and a BBC Radio 4 broadcast of The Listening Room, Crowded Room today announce its brand new production The Colours. The verbatim play will premiere at Soho Theatre from 30 July to 17 August 2019, and will also be performed at Rowans Hospice near Portsmouth. Interviews to create the play were conducted throughout 2018 with patients, doctors, nurses and volunteers at Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff and Ty Olwen Hospice in Swansea.

The cast for Gary Owen's new version of The Cherry Orchard, which transfers the action to early 1980s Pembrokeshire, will feature a broad range of talents from stage and screen including a number of actors from Wales. Gender-blind casting has arrived and we'd better get used to it. Correction: it seems we are getting used to it, viz the imminent revival of the Donmar's all-female Shakespeare trilogy. So the headline story of this Old Vic production is not that a woman is taking on the Everest north-face of a role formerly reserved for mature alpha males of the acting profession. The headline story of Glenda Jackson's Lear is that this Lear is magnificent, and its magnificence emanates directly from the text.
