El Foro Internacional de Música Nueva Manuel Enríquez cerrará su edición 41 con el estreno en América Latina de la versión orquestal completa, en formato de concierto multimedia, de la ópera El gran macabro (Le Grand Macabre) de Gyôrgy Ligeti (Rumania, 1923 – Austria, 2006), bajo la dirección concertadora del maestro Ludwig Carrasco, el domingo 13 de octubre a las 17:00 horas en la Sala Principal del Palacio de Bellas Artes.

Inspired by a 1970 Federico Fellini film, three aging clowns compete for a job in an absurdly comic look at man's fear of uselessness in society. Odyssey Theatre Ensemble presents the West Coast premiere of Old Clown Wanted by Romanian-French playwright Matei Visniec in a new translation from the French by Jeremy Lawrence. Romanian-born Florinel Fatulescu directs for a Sept. 22 opening, with performances continuing through Nov. 4 at the Odyssey Theatre in West L.A.

Music Director Alan Gilbert will conduct the New York Philharmonic in the New York Premiere of Le Grand Macabre, the absurdist opera by György Ligeti, in a staged production directed and designed by Douglas Fitch and produced by Edouard Getaz, Thursday, May 27, 2010, at 7:30 p.m., and Friday, May 28, and Saturday, May 29, at 8:00 p.m. Single tickets for the performances are $31 to $112 and can be purchased online at nyphil.org or by calling (212) 875-5656, Tickets may also be purchased at the Avery Fisher Hall Box Office or the Alice Tully Hall Box Office at Lincoln Center, Broadway at 65th Street. On Tuesday, May 11 at 6:30 PM Alan Gilbert and Douglas Fitch will participate in an Insights Series Event, Conversation About Le Grand Macabre, at the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse. Tickets are $20.
