The Gary Plays - Extended through June 10: Fans of seminal playwright and Padua Hills Playwrights Festival founder Murray Mednick are in for a treat: Open Fist Theatre Company presents Mednick's entire "The Gary Plays" series in one epic production. Originated by Padua Playwrights and developed in workshops over a two-year period by Open Fist, "The Gary Plays" chronicles the odyssey of unemployed actor Gary Bean in the years following the random murder of his son. An everyman/anti-hero, Gary has been hailed by KCRW as "a sort of L.A. Leopold Bloom." Audiences can choose to follow his journey over the course of three evenings - or view all six plays on a single Sunday.

If you enjoyed the movie Liar Liar, starring Jim Carey, then prepare for a hilarious evening of theater with a twist. The Liar, a comedy premiering at the Black Box Arts Center in Shepherdstown, features a main character who cannot tell the truth!

This Friday, Rabbit Hole, the 2007 Pulitzer Prize-winning play, will debut at the recently opened Black Box Arts Center in Shepherdstown, WV. Directed by Julie Bloomquist, Rabbit Hole tells the seemingly simple, yet emotionally complex story of individual family members all dealing with the death of a young child. Married couple Becca and Howie have lost their four year old son after he was accidentally hit by a car. The family struggles to cope with the loss as Becca's sister, Izzy, is currently pregnant and Becca's mother, Nat, attempts to comfort her daughters and hold the fragile family together.

Most actors attending a read-thru of a play by a well-known playwright do not expect it to turn into a criminal investigation. However, in Rehearsal for Murder, opening on November 8 at the Apollo Civic Theater in Martinsburg, WV, a routine read-thru turns into a determined inquest to find a killer and this murder mystery thriller does not contain most of the usual cliches one would expect.

The 75th Anniversary Production of OUR TOWN produced by Jonathan Kupper and PASSCAL (The Performing Arts Society of Southern California) has some changes to announce: Emma Berdie Donson will now serve as Director and Paul Flores as Assistant Director (both are also starring in the production).
