The holiday of Purim has often been called “the Jewish Carnavale,” with the joys of song, laughter and drama folded into one, like tangy, fruit-filled hamantashen. That’s just the recipe for a Yiddishe Taam that the Yiddishkayt Initiative will be serving up at its first annual International VIRTUAL YI Love Yiddishfest – Purim Edition, Feb 25-28.
American Contemporary Music Ensemble Performs at Roulette in NYC Concert Series Curated by Meredith Monk

ACME, American Contemporary Music Ensemble, will perform music from its new 'portrait' album Thrive on Routine on Monday, February 13, 2017 at 8pm at Roulette (509 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn, NY), on a concert series curated by Meredith Monk. The concert will feature Monk's first string quartet, Stringsongs, from 2005, which ACME has performed frequently and recorded for Q2 Music's Meet the Composer podcast. In addition, ACME will perform Caroline Shaw's in manus tuas for solo cello, Caleb Burhans' Jahrzeit for string quartet, and Timo Andres' Thrive on Routine for string quartet, from the new album. ACME players for this concert are Ben Russell and Laura Lutzke, violins; Caleb Burhans, viola; and Clarice Jensen, cello and ACME artistic director.
ACME to Open 2015-16 Season at Five Boroughs Music Festival, 9/11

ACME, the American Contemporary Music Ensemble opens its 2015-2016 season with a concert presented by Five Boroughs Music Festival at 7pm on Friday, September 11, 2015 at National Opera Center's Scorca Recital Hall. The program features music by ACME members Timo Andres (solo piano piece TBA), Caleb Burhans (Jahrzeit for string quartet), and Pulitzer Prize winner Caroline Shaw (Gustave Le Grey), as well as Meredith Monk's rarely performed string quartet Stringsongs and Charles Ives' Piano Trio, Op. 86. The group will also present the world premiere of 5×5, a suite of five movements commissioned by Five Boroughs Music Festival, featuring musical contributions by each of the five composer-performers on the program - Shaw, Andres, and Burhans plus violinist Ben Russell and cellist/ACME artistic director Clarice Jensen. ACME players for this concert are Caroline Shaw and Ben Russell, violins; Caleb Burhans and Caitlin Lynch, violas; Clarice Jensen, cello; and Timo Andres, piano.

ACME, the American Contemporary Music Ensemble performs on Thursday, April 18 at 7:30pm. presented by The Morgan Library and Museum (225 Madison Avenue) and the Polish Cultural Institute New York. ACME pays homage to the late, largely unsung Polish composer Mieczys?aw Weinberg with an elegiac chamber music program that includes his exquisite Piano Quintet Op. 18, plus Dmitri Shostakovich's Piano Trio No. 2 in E minor, Op. 67 and selections from Henryk Górecki's String Quartet No. 3.
