The world-renowned Young People’s Chorus of New York City has announced the world-premiere of We Came to America, an inspirational new composition for chorus and orchestra by Rob Kapilow that celebrates the American experience.

This past spring, Francisco J. Núñez, artistic director and founder of the Young People's Chorus of New York City (YPC), announced the newest milestone in the chorus's renowned 30-year history: the formation of YPC National, Inc. an independent non-profit organization to support and inspire youth choruses across the country with a program of artistic excellence, diversity, and education modeled on YPC.  

On Sunday, June 24, 2018, at 2 pm, at Carnegie Hall, MacArthur Genius Grant-winning composer Francisco J. Nuñez and Venezuelan composer Cristian Grases conduct new music specially composed for young people's voices, including two world premieres. The concert, ||: Song/Play :|| will be performed by Distinguished Concerts Orchestra and Distinguished Concerts Singers International comprised of sixteen youth choirs from around the world.

Musical America has named Francisco J. N ez, artistic director and founder of the Young People's Chorus of New York City, its 2018 Educator of the Year.

Francisco J. N ez, Artistic Director and Founder of the Young People's Chorus of New York City (YPC), was today announced as the recipient of Musical America's Educator of the Year award.

The Young People's Chorus of NYC had its most successful gala to date on Monday, March 6th, 2017. The chorus members, ranging in ages from 8 to 18, were joined by Hamilton's Mandy Gonzalez, Spring Awakening's Alexandra Socha, and the extraordinary Time for Three ensemble, in one vibrant production number after the next.

On Monday evening, March 7, at 7 p.m. with every seat in Jazz at Lincoln Center's Rose Theater occupied, 400 chorus members of the Young People's Chorus of New York City filled the stage and the balcony boxes above, while YPC Artistic Director Francisco J. Nuñez gave the downbeat to The New York Pops, to set the stage for one of the most exciting and successful galas in YPC's 28-year history. Scroll down for photos from the event!

At 7 p.m. on Monday evening, March 2, with every seat in Jazz at Lincoln Center's Rose Theater occupied, almost 400 chorus members from 7 to 18 from the Young People's Chorus of New York City streamed on stage and filled the balcony boxes above. Joining them was the evening's host, Broadway star Norm Lewis, and in the pit YPC Artistic Director Francisco J. Nuñez gave the downbeat to The New York Pops to get YPC's gala evening off to an exciting start by singing...and dancing...'Magic To Do' from Pippin. Scroll down for photos from the concert!

Beginning with a capacity-filled Carnegie Hall concert and followed by a gala reception in the Grand Ballroom of the Plaza Hotel, the February 11 gala benefit evening celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Young People's Chorus of New York City founded by Artistic Director Francisco J. Núñez has turned out to be the most successful in the chorus' history, benefiting an organization that has transformed the lives of thousands of children. On Thursday night, the Young People's Chorus of New York City at Washington Heights (YPCWH) sang its inaugural concert at Washington Heights Academy. YPCWH is the very first community chorus established by the Young People's Chorus of New York City under its Artistic Director/Founder Francisco J .Nunez.
