BAM Unveils DANCEAFRICA Festival 2026 Lineup and Events

BAM’s annual DanceAfrica Festival will return to Brooklyn from May 16-28, 2026. The long-running celebration of African and diasporic dance and culture will feature performances, films, dance classes, and community events across the BAM campus.

In addition to award categories: Outstanding Choreographer/Creator, Outstanding Performer, Outstanding Revival, Outstanding Sound Design or Music Composition, Outstanding Visual Design, Outstanding Breakout Choreographer, the Lifetime Achievement and Outstanding Service to the Field of Dance was presented for years 2024 and 2025.

The Illustrious Blacks Will Host the Bessie Awards Ceremony

The New York Dance and Performance Awards, The Bessies, announce the lineup of special guests for the 39th Bessie Awards Ceremony. Acclaimed queer pop duo The Illustrious Blacks (Manchildblack x Monstah Black) will host this year’s ceremony, which will be held on Friday, August 4, at 7:30pm, at Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park as part of Lincoln Center’s Summer for the City.

Clark Center NYC is proud to present their Second Annual Dance Showcase as part of celebrating the 60th anniversary of the initial founding of the Clark Center for the Performing Arts. Come Back Once Morereflects the historic resilience, compassion and heart of the LGBTQ community.Proceeds from the four upcoming performances, June 14th - 17th at The Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater (405 West 55th Street, New York City), will benefit the Ali Forney Center, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, GMHC and Live Out Loud.
