Following the opening of the Company's first permanent home, Target Margin Theater has announced that 13 diverse artists, via three distinct programs, will be supported in 2018. The Company's new home, located in the Sunset Park section of Brooklyn, enables Target Margin Theater to deepen their support of the next generation of theater makers through its annual incubator LAB festival, it's five-year-old fellowship program, and its new artist-in-residency program.

Three new operas developed by American Opera Projects to premiere:  two on race relations in America and one on the future of sex.

The life and times of the spy-as-femme-fatale, Mata Hari, has always attracted the interest of film and stage artists. Now we have the Matt Marks-Paul Peers opera MATA HARI—which opened New York's fifth Prototype Festival last week and continues through Saturday the 14th—though I think of it as more of a dance than an opera. Not literally, of course, but dramatically, as a dance of death for the title character and the men (and one woman) who surround her in this compelling, though somewhat messy, work.

Also on the program is music by Raoul Pleskow, Madelyn Byrne, Patricia  Leonard, Hubert Howe, Max Giteck Duykers, Ross Griffey, and Brian Fennelly. Tickets are $20, students free.

Two sets take place at 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Each set features different songs.
