Ten theater companies in Baltimore are undertaking an unprecedented joint project with the 3-year BALTIMORE AUGUST WILSON CELEBRATION, which will present the late, legendary playwright's August Wilson American Century Cycle of plays in another first.

TheatreWorks opens 2024 with a super trifecta winner with August Wilson’s deeply personal and revelatory How I Learned What I Learned: a brilliant, bravura performance by Bay Area legend Steven Anthony Jones, excellent direction by Wilson interpreter Tim Bond, and of course, the profoundly poetic and incisive words of Wilson that resonate just as clearly today as when written and performed by him in 2003.

Seattle Rep has announced Steven Anthony Jones (Seattle Rep: Jitney, 2020) will lead Seattle Rep’s upcoming production of How I Learned What I Learned by August Wilson, directed by Tim Bond (Seattle Rep: The Children, 2020).

Arden Theatre Company is bringing audiences back into the world of August Wilson's ten-part series, The American Century Cycle. This time audiences will journey to Pittsburgh in the late 1990s for the final play of the cycle, August Wilson's Radio Golf. This bittersweet drama of assimilation and alienation in nineties America traces the forces of change on a neighborhood and its people caught between history and the twenty-first century. This is the fifth play in the cycle that the Arden has produced.  Kash Goins, who was an actor in the Arden's production of Two Trains Running, returns to direct. August Wilson's Radio Golf runs March 23-April 16.

On February 19th, August Wilson House and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette will honor Phoenix's Black Theatre Troupe for its accomplishment of producing all 10 of August Wilson's epic American Century Cycle, becoming one of the few theaters in the country to accomplish such a feat.

Boston's Mayor Michelle Wu, Huntington Managing Director Michael Maso, Huntington Artistic Director Loretta Greco, and costume designer and executor of the Wilson estate Constanza Romero Wilson celebrated the legacy of the legendary playwright August Wilson on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, with a dedication ceremony naming the historic lobby of the gorgeously renovated theatre after the two-time Pulitzer Prize winner.

Jackson, John David Washington, and Danielle Brooks, opened on Broadway. The Huntington has announced the casting and creative team for the highly anticipated revival of August Wilson’s Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, directed by Lili-Anne Brown. Wilson’s masterpiece serves as the inaugural production of the newly renovated Huntington Theatre and runs from October 14 – November 13, 2022.

The first Broadway revival of August Wilson's The Piano Lesson begins next week at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre for its 17-week engagement. Performances will begin on Monday, September 19, 2022.  Check out photos of the cast meeting the press here!

Hundreds gathered in Pittsburgh's historic Hill District on Saturday, Aug. 13, for a day of festivities to mark the grand opening of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright August Wilson's restored childhood home at 1727 Bedford Ave.

Out of the 330 total Chicagoland high school students who entered the 13th annual August Wilson Monologue and Design Competitions, Demi Davis from Senn High School prevailed, taking the first-place prize at the Chicago finals earlier this month for her 2-3-minute monologue performance.
