Montblanc and Urban Arts Partnership presented the highly anticipated return of THE 24 HOUR PLAYS BENEFIT, now in its second year in Los Angeles. Hollywood actors joined forces to participate in this one-night-only live performance, produced by Kevin Chinoy and Francesca Silvestri of the Freestyle Picture Company and the 24 Hour Company. The entire creative process, from writing to directing and finally performance, took place in under 24 hours!

BWW Reviews: Harris Scales Up 'RENT' for The Hollywood Bowl

On the weekend of August 6-8, the infamous 17,000-seat Hollywood Bowl plays host to a forcibly-scaled-up version of Jonathan Larson's Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical RENT, directed by none other than Neil Patrick Harris. Harris' challenge-besides honoring a beloved show as well as living up to his stunt casting choices-was to take a relatively-intimate rock musical about financially-strapped bohemians living in the less-than-luxurious Lower East Side enclave of New York City and expand it on the massive stage entrenched in the Hollywood Hills. The results-a mixed bag of technical gaffes, surprisingly excellent performances, and a few disappointments-prove to be admirably and genuinely entertaining overall.

RENT, written by Jonathan Larson, will be performed at the Hollywood Bowl for three performances only, Friday and Saturday August 6 and 7 at 8:30pm, and Sunday August 8 at 7:30pm. Neil Patrick Harris will direct the production, with musical direction by Tim Weil and choreography by Jamal Sims. The cast includes Skylar Astin, Wayne Brady, Vanessa Hudgens, Telly Leung, Collins Pennie, Nicole Scherzinger, Tracie Thoms, and Aaron Tveit.

The Hollywood Bowl previously announced Vannesa Hudgens for the role of Mimi in its production of RENT, which will have three performances August 6, 7, and 8. Today the Bowl is announcing additional casting, led by Emmy winner and Grammy nominee Wayne Brady in the role of Tom Collins.

FAME cast members hit the red carpet for the advanced screening of the new version of the Oscar-winning hit at Paris Las Vegas on September 24, 2009. A remake of the 1980 original hit film FAME swings into theaters September 25. Like the original film, this interpretation will follow a talented and tenacious group of dancers, singers, actors, and artists over four years at the New York City High School of Performing Arts.
