On Monday October 24th, 2022, the Stage Managers’ Association (SMA) will present its annual Del Hughes Awards for Lifetime Achievement in the Art of Stage Management, at the National Opera Center’s Marc A. Scorca Hall in NYC. 

​​​​​​​130 performers from 17 countries unite to bring comfort and healing to a wounded world in October Project's Worldwide Choir of Return to Me, a dual audio/video release that will premiere on YouTube on June 21st.

COVID-19 has swept and plagued the world by storm, and has robbed many of their families, livelihoods, and ways of living. In an effort to spread unity in a time of conflict and strife, choirs from across the world have joined in forming a virtual choir under the name 'Sing Around The gloBe' to perform Frank Ticheli's 'Earth Song' on Youtube.

The Stage Managers' Association (SMA) presented its annual Del Hughes Awards for Lifetime Achievement in the Art of Stage Management to three stage managers from the worlds of Broadway, Off-Broadway, Touring, Regional Theatre, and Opera - Rich Costabile, Barbara Donner, and Mary K Klinger. In addition to the three Lifetime Achievement Awards, the SMA recognized Janet Friedman with The Founders Award, a special recognition for her many years of service to the SMA and for embodying the values expressed by the Founders of the SMA. The event was celebrated at Connelly's Times Square on September 23rd, 2019. The SMA thanks Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids for their leading sponsorship of the event.

London-raised, Paris-born singer-songwriter Francine Belle has just released her debut single, 'Beautiful Heights' (15th September) via Golden Ratio Records. Francine Belle has performed backing vocals for singer-songwriter legend Elton John and award-winning artist Bright Light Bright Light and honed her craft with many other creative collaborations and projects such as studying music at The BRIT school, touring UK and Europe with her former band and performing. Ed Boyer and Bill Hare, who have worked with world-renowned American a capella group Pentatonix, stepped in for the mixing and mastering of her brand new single, as well as Grammy award-winning arranger, music director, producer, engineer Ben Bram, who arranges music for Pentatonix and helped with vocals and arrangement on 'Beautiful Heights'.

The Stage Managers' Association is very pleased to announce the election of new members to its board of directors. The Association is entering its 36th year.  It was founded to recognize, advocate for and provide continuing education for all stage managers of the United States, and is the only stage manager organization in the U.S. with representatives across the country.
