Emmy hasn't even reached the prime of her life when cancer ensures she never will. Whilst her husband attempts to care for her and her mother holds faith with internet voodoo and blueberry juice, Emmy knows that optimism is a false god. Hope of a future fades and even the memory of her marriage evaporates. In two interlocking timespans, All the Lights Are On sees how illness robs Emmy of her independence and identity whilst her nearest and dearest must comes to terms with the limits of their capacity to help.
