Photo Flash: The Donald M. Ephraim Palm Beach Jewish Film Festival Welcomes 150 Movie Fans
Ellen Wedner, Director of the: 28th annual TheDonald M. Ephraim Palm Beach Jewish Film Festival presented by the Mandel Jewish Community Center of the Palm Beaches, today announced that more than 150 movie fans attended a private preview reception and dinner on January 16 at the High Ridge Country Club in Boynton Beach.
The Festival's opening night movie was shown at the preview: BODY AND SOUL: An American Bridge, which focuses on the early performance history and cross-cultural impact of the jazz standard by Jewish composer Johnny Green. In addition, popular singers and Legends 100.3 FM morning co-hosts Jill and Rich Switzer performed live, singing several favorites tunes from the Great American Songbook including their own jazzy version of Body and Soul.
Donald M. Ephraim, the Festival's Legacy Partner, greeted all major sponsors that evening, including Opening Night Presenting Partner Richard & Leslie Stone; Opening Night ProducerBarbara Mines; Associate Partners Ray & Linda Golden, Bente Lyons and Edward B. & Cyma Satell; and Opening Chair Marjorie Konigsberg.
Among those making remarks at the private preview were Vicki Roitman, Mandel JCC President & CEO, and Susan Shulman Pertnoy, Mandel JCC Board Chair.
Through February 11, the Donald M. Ephraim Palm Beach Jewish Film Festival will present 35 must-see movies from all over the world at six different cinemas, including AMC CityPlace 20 in West Palm Beach, Cinema Palace 20 in Boca Raton, CMX Cinemas (formerly Paragon Theaters) in Wellington, Cobb Theatres and the PGA Arts Center in Palm Beach Gardens, and the Frank Theatres in Delray Beach.
Among the celebrated films that are scheduled to be shown at the Donald M. Ephraim Palm Beach Jewish Film Festival 2018 are 1945, AN ACT OF DEFIANCE, A QUIET HEART, BEN GURION:EPILOGUE, BOMBSHELL: The Hedy Lamarr Story, G.I. JEWS: Jewish Americans in World War II, ITZHAK, KEEP THE CHANGE, MONSIEUR MAYONNAISE, MR. AND MRS. ADELMAN, SAMMY DAVIS: I've Gotta Be Me, SHALOM BOLLYWOOD, THE MAN WHO SHOT HOLLYWOOD, THE PULITZER AT 100, VITCH, and many more.
Presented by the Mandel Jewish Community Center of the Palm Beaches, The Donald M. Ephraim Palm Beach Jewish Film Festival strives to bring to South Florida the finest examples of cinema from around the world. Founded in 1990 the festival continues to grow and evolve as it continues to expand the selection of narrative features, short films and documentaries to reflect the tastes and needs of its audience.
