Orchid World Productions Presents Clingstone, a Gripping New Play on Family, Loss, and the Weight of Generational Choices at Orlando Fringe FestN4 January 10, 2025 at 6:30 PM January 11, 2025 at 1:40 PM Fringe Arts Space, Downtown Orlando Orlando, FL – Orlando Fringe and Orchid World Productions are thrilled to announce the premiere of Clingstone, a powerful new play from acclaimed playwright Vanessa Frances Poulson and director Amelia Reed Bryant. The one-hour drama, playing on January 10 and 11, 2025, delves into the complexities of family dynamics, legacy, and the cyclical nature of trauma, unfolding on stage at Downtown Orlando’s Fringe Arts Space. Clingstone is an intimate narrative told in reverse, beginning with the imprisonment of Calista, a young woman whose reckless actions have left her family shattered. Her mother, Ryann, is a high-achieving executive facing a terminal illness. As she looks back on their lives, Ryann reflects on the choices she made for the family and the reverberating effects of those decisions on her relationship with Calista. Vanessa Frances, Orlando-based playwright and founder of Orchid World Productions, captures the emotional complexity of this story with her characteristic nuance and honesty. “With Clingstone, I wanted to confront the painful truth of how family legacies can wound us and the recklessness that sometimes follows,” says Frances. “This play examines how we inherit our parents’ choices and the sometimes impossible journey to move beyond them.” Director Amelia Reed Bryant elaborates on the play’s layered approach: “Working with Vanessa on Clingstone has been an extraordinary journey. This play digs deeply into the heart of family, loss, and the complicated dynamics of wealth and abandonment. We hope it leaves audiences reflecting on the resilience of human connection.” Orchid World Productions, co-founded by Actor and Producer Amelia Reed Bryant and Writer and Producer Vanessa Frances, is dedicated to crafting compelling stage and film narratives that blend realism and surrealism, exploring the depth of the human experience. With a focus on humanist storytelling, Orchid World highlights diverse voices and creates works that inspire, challenge, and connect audiences. Tickets for Clingstone are $15, with an additional $3 Fringe Button, with showings on January 10 at 6:30 PM and January 11 at 1:40PM. Seats can be reserved through the Orlando Fringe website here, and tickets are expected to sell quickly. Press Contact: Vanessa Frances Poulson orchidworldproductions@gmail.com
