Midnight at Forbidden City at Medusa Art Studios and Events

"Midnight at Forbidden City" is an immersive musical that tells the story of Asian American performers who boldly pushed artistic boundaries while navigating the racial stereotypes imposed on them. Set in a legendary San Francisco nightclub in the 1940s, the show explores their fight to live fully and defiantly, on and off stage, celebrating their resilience, creativity, and quest for identity in a constrained world.

This staged reading will focus on the first act of the musical and will be followed by a facilitated talkback. The entire program will be around 70 minutes. This reading is made possible (in part) with public funds from the Queens Arts Fund, a re-grant program supported by New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and administered by New York Foundation for the Arts.
