Nea Somogyi joins the cast of OLVÍDAME at IATI THEATER

Nea Somogyi's participation rounds up the cast of the upcoming play Olvídame by Margot Carmody in the Staged Reading Series' Cimientos by the IATI Theater. This play development program is dedicated to supporting emerging and established Latinx playwrights. Rooted in IATI’s commitment to vanguardia, Cimientos pushes beyond traditional playwriting to explore bold, interdisciplinary, and innovative theatrical forms.

"After dying in the line of duty, Emmanuel Mateus finds himself caught between worlds, given nine nights to confront the past he buried. Guided by the rhythms of Afro-Colombian bullerengue, memory and music intertwine as his daughter is drawn into a journey of revelation. Olvídame is a haunting, music-driven exploration of migration, identity, and the cost of assimilation, asking what we lose in order to survive."

The reading will be performed in English with some Spanish, gruiding the audience in a journey through identity and belonging. Nea Somogyi, who's a native Spanish speaker, will be reading for the character of Bullerengue Voice. Directed by Michael Álvarez, the rest of the cast is comprised of Julian Elijah Martinez as Emmnauel, Pete Pasco as Roberto, Maria Belisario as Celeste and David Heron in the Ensemble.
