On the verge of losing custody of his young daughter, an alcoholic thief is given a final chance at sobriety by being sent to a halfway house in rural Pennsylvania. To survive, he must learn to live alongside a convicted heroin dealer, and a privileged golden boy. Watch as their fractured lives spiral out of control as they try to outrun the fickle finger of fate.
This new play written by Gabriel Drax is a glimpse inside the broken lives of young addicts and criminals whose stories often go unheard. Their stories are often filled with trauma, societal neglect, and an inability to forfeit vice for a life filled with love and a sense of belonging. The play is directed by Chloe Champken, whose knack for crafting raw and unfiltered theater is on full display.
Dreams on 81 had a successful staged reading with LAByrinth theatre company this summer during their intensive play reading festival, and we're incredibly excited to finally be bringing it to the stage!
