Come enjoy Blue Hill Troupe’s spring show, Gilbert & Sullivan’s “Patience,” and raise money for a great cause, Jewish Home Lifecare. “Patience” satirizes Britain’s "aesthetic craze" of the 1870's and '80s – updated and transplanted to the American Southwest in 1957, and featuring a Martha Graham-like ladies’ dance ensemble.
Since its inception in 1924, the Blue Hill Troupe has produced a Gilbert & Sullivan operetta every spring with lavish production values and full orchestra. This adaptation is directed by Gary Slavin, whose recent Off Broadway credits include Show Choir! - The Musical and the hit political revue Bush Is Bad, with musical direction conducted by Zachary Schwartzman, an assistant conductor with the American Symphony Orchestra.
Jewish Home Lifecare is Blue Hill Troupe’s 2014-2015 charity partner. All proceeds from this season will support arts programming for Jewish Home residents, including those with stroke-related speech impairments and those who are wheelchair- or bed-bound.
Blue Hill Troupe brings high-quality theater performances to New York City audiences while raising money for local charities. Each year, the group chooses a charitable organization to receive the proceeds from the season’s performances.
