The 21st Havana Film Festival New York (HFFNY) returns (November 5-11) with a full schedule of films which can be seen at the East Village Cinema (181-289 Second Avenue, New York, NY, 10003). This years full Festival program explores three trends in contemporary Iberian-America cinema: Cultural and social inclusion, especially in the context of immigration, the symbiotic relationship between cinema, literature, and music seen through their creators, and taboo topics including homosexuality in Latin American indigenous communities. Filmmakers will join us from around the world to introduce audiences to their stories, interpretations, and approaches to the art of making movies. The Festival will showcase films from Argentina, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Greece, Guatemala, Italy, Mexico, Peru, Spain, the United Kingdom, Uruguay, and the United States. The Opening Night Party will feature Cuban piano phenomenon Dayramir Gonzlez with special guest singer and artist Willard Morgan at Ideal Glass Studios, 9 W 8th St, New York.Tickets cost $10 per movie.
