Barter Theatre's 2012 Young Playwrights Festival Winners Announced

The 10th Anniversary of Barter Theatre's Young Playwrights Festival (YPF) was an outstanding success breaking records in number of students participating and plays submitted. Over 400 students participated from nine area high schools with a total of 248 plays. On Monday, November 5, the winning plays were announced at two performances: a morning performance just for students and teachers and an evening performance for the community and parents.

The Historic North Theatre will have Danville's classic rock radio station, 1045 The Dan, present THE RETURN-The Beatles Tribute Band at the theatre, 629 N. Main St., Danville, VA. on Friday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 PM. This one night only show will benefit the Danville Salvation Army. Attendees are asked to bring a can good to benefit the Salvation Army Holiday Food Drive. Tickets have been specially discounted to $25.00, 20.00, 15.00 and 10.00. Richmond Shakespeare presents A Child's Christmas in Wales, a new adaptation of Dylan Thomas's beloved seasonal work, November 29 through December 23. Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts Selects Arvind Manocha as New President and CEO

Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts has selected Arvind Manocha as the not-for-profit organization's new President and CEO. Manocha will begin his tenure on January 2, 2013 following the retirement of long-time leader Terrence D. Jones. Manocha is currently the Chief Operating Officer of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, where he oversees the Hollywood Bowl, a venue that serves more than one million patrons annually and shares a commitment to the all encompassing programmatic vision of the Filene Center at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. During his tenure at the Bowl, he has been responsible for growing attendance, increasing the variety and scope of concerts, and managing a multi-million dollar program of ongoing capital improvements. Since he took on management of the historic facility, the Hollywood Bowl has been named "Best Outdoor Amphitheatre in the U.S." eight years in a row by Pollstar magazine (2004-2011).
