ROUTE 30, TOO to Have Screening at Alamo Draft House, 4/4
JOHN PUTCH'S follow up film to ROUTE 30, entitled ROUTE 30, TOO! will have a special event screening on April 4TH 2013 at the ALAMO DRAFT HOUSE in Winchester, VA.
In 2009, John Putch created the indie hit Route 30, and now he's back with the outrageously wacky sequel, which stars Beth Behrs of the hit show 2 Broke Girls, Curtis Armstrong (Revenge of the Nerds, Risky Business, Ray), Robert Romanus (Fast Times at Ridgemont High) & Jamie Rose (of TV's Falcon Crest).
The new comedy centers around the mystical Pond Bank road, where Ghost and Alien activity has been rumored. "The White Woman was so popular in the first film, that I decided to bring her back in part 2. She is a pivotal character that helps expose strange Alien activity around Mister Ed's Elephant Museum and Candy Outlet.."
Route 30 is the first transcontinental highway that stretches coast to coast. Putch chose the Lincoln Highway to set his trilogy because it runs right through his home town of Fayetteville, PA.
Although this film is part of a trilogy, it is a stand alone movie. Enjoying it does not require having seen the first one. PUTCH and cast members Dan Poole & MISTER ED will attend the event at the Alamo Draft-house and participate in the post show Q&A.
The son of renowned actress Jean Stapleton and the late producer/director William H. Putch, John Putch is often referred to as an independent film "maverick." One of his first indie efforts, "Valerie Flake," landed him at the '99 Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award. He followed that hit up with a string of indie movies, including "Pursuit Of Happiness," "Bachelorman," the award-winning "Mojave Phone Booth" and the "Route 30" trilogy of films which were shot in South Central Pennsylvania.
On the studio front, John has directed big-budget comedies for Universal, including "American Pie Presents: The Book Of Love" and "Beethoven's Christmas Adventure." Last year, he directed the enigmatic "Atlas Shrugged, Part 2." For TV, he has directed numerous episodes of "Cougar Town" (including this season's upcoming finale); episodes of "Ugly Betty," "Scrubs," "My Name is Earl" and "The Middle"; multiple TV movies for Hallmark Entertainment; and NBC's epic mini-series, "The Poseidon Adventure."
Prior to becoming a filmmaker, John was an accomplished actor who started in the theater, then enjoyed a successful TV and film career before making the switch to directing.
