Auditions for When There's A Will !
CAT Theatre announces auditions for When There’s A Will by local playwright, Philip Ventrella.
CAT Theatre will conduct auditions on Sunday, March 19 at 7 pm and on Monday, March 20 at 7 pm for When There’s A Will. Auditions are open -- simply arrive at the theatre on Sunday OR Monday evening at 7 pm. Appointments are not necessary.
It has been our experience at CAT that using this here comes everybody method allows the director to mix and match actors to create the best cast possible. Auditions will be held at the theatre at 319 North Wilkinson Road, Henrico. When There’s A Will runs from May 26 through June 3, 2017.
When a family gathers at the command of its matriarch, no one is happy. Grandmother holds the purse strings to the clan’s inheritance and make ludicrous and unreasonable demands on her family. Their responses – sometimes silly, other times horrible – are often the reaction many can relate to (but wouldn’t dream of fulfilling). This world premier, black comedy will conclude CAT’s 2017-2017 season.
Director Ann Graham Davis will be looking for four female and three male actors. All actors will be paid. The character breakdown is as follows:
DELORES S. WHITMORE (woman, 60 year old +/-) Manipulating and money obsessed. Gets her kicks mentally torturing her adult grandchildren.
MEREDITH WHITMORE (woman, mid-to-late 20s) Alcoholic who has given up and uses sarcasm to cope.
SPENCER WHITMORE (man, early-to-mid 20s) Kind hearted, but a bit naïve. Younger brother to Meredith and the youngest grandchild.
GRAHAM WHITMORE (man, late 20s – early 30s) Biting sense of humor. Cousin to Meredith and Spencer and the oldest of the grandchildren.
FLORINE WHITMORE (woman, late 20s – early 30s) Loves insulting her husband, Graham, whom she hates.
ABIGAIL PRITCHARD (woman, late 20s) Soft spoken, but no nonsense woman. Younger sister to Graham.
DENNIS PRITCHARD (man, late 20s) Gentle and loving, to the point of being suspicious. Husband to Abigail.
