THEATRE BY THE SEA ANNOUNCES
TEEN AND CHILDREN’S AUDITIONS FOR 2019 SUMMER SEASON
Theatre By The Sea announces Open Children’s and Teen Non-Equity Auditions for its 2019 Summer Season productions of Singin’ in the Rain, Newsies and Saturday Night Fever. Needed are:
Singin’ in the Rain:
Two young boys who are strong tap dancers to play the roles of Young Don and Young Cosmo.
Children auditioning should look no older than 8-12 years old.
Selected actors will need to be available for afternoon, evening and
weekend rehearsals and performances from June 4 – July 13, 2019
Newsies:
One young boy who is a strong dancer (tap dancing a plus) to play the role of Les, Davey’s cheeky younger
brother, who is inspired by the freedom of the newsies and loves their independent lifestyle.
A precocious and natural newsie, Les is an intuitive salesboy and a pint-sized charmer.
Children auditioning should be 10-15 years old, but present as younger than the other newsies.
The selected actor will need to be available for afternoon, evening and
weekend rehearsals and performances from July 2 – August 10, 2019
Saturday Night Fever:
One teenage girl, who can affect a Brooklyn accent, to play
Linda Manero, Tony’s little sister, who is sunny and spunky.
Girls auditioning should look as though they are between the ages of 15-16.
The selected actress will need to be available for afternoon, evening and
weekend rehearsals and performances from July 30 – September 8, 2019

4:00 pm – Open Call (Everyone will sing first)
Those auditioning should bring their headshot and resume stapled together back to back. Please prepare 16-32 bars of a song which shows off your voice and personality. Some actors/actresses may be asked to stay and dance – please bring appropriate attire. Boys who are able to tap, should bring their tap shoes.

Theatre By The Sea has had many incarnations since opening on August 7, 1933. Tommy Brent saved the theatre from demolition in 1967 and ran it successfully until FourQuest Entertainment took over the lease in 1988. Following extensive renovations, FourQuest reopened the theatre in the spring of 1989 and continued producing high quality entertainment at the seaside playhouse until the fall of 2003. Bill Hanney purchased the property in 2007 and, with producing partners, successfully mounted a production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, just six weeks later, reopening the historic theatre on August 8, 2007. Since then, Theatre By The Sea has continued to produce a four-musical subscription season, a late-night cabaret series, a children’s theatre festival, and a children’s summer theatre camp
